
Whether you’ve been barbecuing and hot smoking for years or are new to this wonderful outdoor way of cooking, our Backyard BBQ Workshop will show you how to prepare and cook tasty food on your BBQ. This workshop is a hands-on experience aimed to improve your techniques and to learn new ways of utilising your barbeque at home to become the envy of your friends and neighbours.
During the Backyard BBQ Workshop we will cover how to choose the best barbecue to suit your needs; the best fuel to use, how to use it and safe lighting methods; how to control the temperature using vents and airflow; direct versus indirect cooking; smoking and the addition of wood for smoking; how to use rubs, sauces and marinades; food hygiene and safe practices when cooking with fire.
We will prepare and cook the following dishes during the workshop:-
- Baby Back Pork Ribs
- Rum Soaked Hot Smoked Salmon
- Beer-Can Chicken (allergens – celery*)
- Spatchcock Chicken
- Chicken Lollipops (allergens – celery*)
- Reverse Seared Steak
- Cheese Stuffed ‘Moink Balls’ (allergens – milk* gluten*)
- Atomic Buffalo Turds (allergens – milk)
- Loaded Cornbread (allergens – milk, egg, gluten)
- Broccoli Slaw (allergens – celery* egg, mustard, sulphites, nuts* [cashews])
- Gooey S’mores Bars (dessert) (allergens – milk, egg, gluten)
No prior barbecue or cooking skills are required. Please note this class will involve some knife work.
We want to make your experience as interactive and enjoyable as possible, so if you have any food allergies or intolerances please notify us before the workshop, we may be able to substitute them in some dishes (marked with *), but there might also be some items you won’t be able to taste. Either way, we really don’t want to make you ill!
Timings & Price
The Workshop runs for around 5 to 6 hours and costs £140 per person. We start at 0845 with a bacon roll and hot drink; refreshments are provided throughout the day. We all sit down at the end of the class to eat the food cooked during the day. There are always lots of leftovers to take away, so please bring a large container.
